The new facility represents an investment of over\u00a0$250 million\u00a0and will create approximately 1,500 skilled jobs once it is fully ramped up. Production is expected to begin around the end of 2023. This will be\u00a0Canadian Solar&#8217;s\u00a0first\u00a0United States\u00a0manufacturing facility, following its successful track record of production in\u00a0Canada,\u00a0China,\u00a0Brazil,\u00a0Thailand\u00a0and\u00a0Vietnam. In 2021,\u00a0Canadian Solar\u00a0relocated Recurrent Energy, its 17-year-old\u00a0U.S.\u00a0subsidiary, to\u00a0Austin, spearheading the rapid growth of renewable energy in the Lone Star State as a solar and battery storage project developer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Canadian Solar&#8217;s\u00a0new\u00a0$250 million\u00a0manufacturing plant in\u00a0Mesquite\u00a0will bolster\u00a0Texas&#8217;\u00a0status as the energy capital of the world and secure our leadership as a global tech hub,&#8221; said<strong>\u00a0Governor\u00a0Greg Abbott<\/strong>. &#8220;I thank\u00a0Canadian Solar\u00a0for choosing\u00a0Texas\u00a0for their next\u00a0U.S.\u00a0business investment and for creating 1,500 new jobs in the region to help boost\u00a0the community for generations to come.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>United States\u00a0Senator\u00a0Ted Cruz\u00a0<\/strong>expressed his enthusiasm for the project stating,\u00a0&#8220;Texas\u00a0is an energy production powerhouse, and we embrace an all-of-the-above energy strategy. TOPCon cells have the highest efficiency in commercial solar PV technology and are highly optimized in bifacial modules, generating energy from both the front and the rear of the solar cell.
