Canadian Solar Inc.\u00a0(the “Company”, or “Canadian Solar”) (NASDAQ: CSIQ), one of the world’s largest solar power companies, today announced that its 56.3MWp solar power project in\u00a0Japan\u00a0reached commercial operation last month.<\/p>\n
The Yamaguchi Shin Mine\u00a0project solar power system, powered by 173,000\u00a0Canadian SolarCS6U<\/a>\u00a0modules, is expected to generate approximately 66,000MWh of electricity every year.\u00a0Chugoku Electric Power Company, Inc.\u00a0will purchase the solar power under a 20-year feed-in-tariff contract at the rate of \u00a536.0\u00a0($0.32)\u00a0per kWh.<\/p>\n “This is the largest solar project we have built in\u00a0Japan, which once again shows our solar project development capability in this market. We now have\u00a0a total of<\/span>\u00a0141.9MWp of operating solar power assets in\u00a0Japan, not including the 81MWp of project assets we sold previously,” said Dr.\u00a0Shawn Qu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of\u00a0Canadian Solar Inc., “We are glad to convert an abandoned 27-hole golf course into a solar plant, which will now provide clean renewable energy\u00a0for thousands of people for decades to come.”<\/p>\n
