{"id":673,"date":"2021-03-18T19:07:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T10:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadiansolar-energy.co.jp\/en\/news_release\/?p=673"},"modified":"2021-03-18T19:07:23","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T10:07:23","slug":"canadian-solar-completes-61-mwp-solar-portfolio-sale-in-japan-and-deepens-partnership-with-canadian-solar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadiansolar-energy.co.jp\/en\/news_release\/2021\/673.html","title":{"rendered":"CANADIAN SOLAR COMPLETES 61 MWP SOLAR PORTFOLIO SALE IN JAPAN AND DEEPENS PARTNERSHIP WITH CANADIAN SOLAR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GUELPH, ON,\u00a0March 8, 2021\u00a0\/PRNewswire\/ &#8212;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadiansolar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Canadian Solar Inc.<\/a>\u00a0(the &#8220;Company&#8221;, or &#8220;Canadian Solar&#8221;) (NASDAQ: CSIQ) announced today that it has completed the sale of two operational projects totaling 61 MWp to\u00a0Canadian Solar Infrastructure Fund\u00a0(&#8220;CSIF&#8221;, TSE: 9284) for\u00a0JPY 30.6 billion\u00a0(approximately\u00a0US$283 million).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To finance the acquisition of the 53 MWp Oita Hiji-machi and 8 MWp Miyagi Ogawara projects, CSIF recently completed an international public offering and raised over\u00a0JPY 18 billion\u00a0(US$166 million) on the\u00a0Tokyo Stock Exchange.\u00a0Canadian Solar\u00a0participated in this transaction and continues to own approximately 15% of CSIF. Additionally, CSIF issued over\u00a0JPY 19 billion\u00a0(US$175 million) of long-term debt to maintain its capital structure. These transactions affirmed CSIF as one of the largest listed infrastructure funds in\u00a0Japan\u00a0with over\u00a0JPY 80 billion\u00a0(US$740 million) of operational solar assets under management.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am pleased to report that we have surpassed\u00a0$1 billion\u00a0of asset sales in the Japanese solar market, helped by significant growth in the\u00a0Canadian Solar Infrastructure Fund\u00a0which\u00a0Canadian Solar\u00a0continues to sponsor both as the asset manager and the largest investor. Since CSIF&#8217;s listing in\u00a0October 2017, it has grown over 2.5 times and now owns 25 solar power plants totaling 184 MWp across\u00a0Japan.
