Earlier this year, Southern California Edison awarded Recurrent Energy a long-term energy storage contract for 200 MW \/ 800 MWh for phase 1 of the Crimson project located in\u00a0Riverside County, California. Both contracts are stand-alone storage projects and are part of reliability procurements directed by the\u00a0California Public Utilities\u00a0<span id=\"spanHghlt8d77\">Commission<\/span>\u00a0(&#8220;CPUC&#8221;). The newly signed agreement with PG&amp;E is specifically in response to a\u00a0<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.cpuc.ca.gov\/publisheddocs\/published\/g000\/m373\/k745\/373745051.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">decision<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>by the CPUC in March for the\u00a0California\u00a0utilities to &#8220;take actions to prepare for potential extreme weather in the summers of 2021 and 2022.&#8221; This additional energy storage capacity further supports\u00a0Governor Newsom&#8217;s\u00a0recent emergency\u00a0<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Energy-Emergency-Proc-7-30-21.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">proclamation<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>to expedite new clean energy projects in light of the ongoing extreme weather and climate crisis faced by the state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr.\u00a0Shawn Qu,\u00a0Chairman and CEO of\u00a0Canadian Solar, said, &#8220;It is becoming increasingly important to be able to send energy to the grid during heatwaves and other peak demand events.
