Notice of our membership in the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP)

We at Canadian Solar Projects K.K. are pleased to announce that we became a member of the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP) on October 1, 2021. The JCLP is a group of companies which support the goal of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases to net-zero worldwide by 2050, and are aiming for the attainment of a sustainable carbon-free society.

Since 2014, Canadian Solar Projects has built up a record of numerous achievements in the development and construction of photovoltaic power generation plants supplying clean energy on a stable basis and with a high reliability, toward the objective of a carbon-neutral Japan. Thanks to all concerned, we have managed to grow into one of Japan’s key development enterprises in this field.

In our position as a power producer supplying renewable energy, we shall cooperate with the other JCLP members and are determined to do all we can to help Japan attain its 2030 and 2050 targets for decarbonization.

By our membership in the JCLP, we are showing society as a whole our determination to provide backing for the building of carbon-free societies in conformance with the Paris Accord, and the action we take to this end. Through our practice of decarbonization at our own company, we shall make a contribution to sustainable advancement on both the international and local levels, and are counting on your continued support for our activities.

About the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP)

The JCLP was established in 2009 as Japan’s own group of companies who shared the realization that all industry must have a sound sense of crisis about the need to build the carbon-free society, and ought to commence vigorous action to that end. As of October 1, 2021, it had a membership of 200 companies, including some of Japan’s major ones, from a wide range of industries. These members had combined sales of 121.07 trillion yen and a combined power consumption of 60.99 terawatt-hours (reference figures and rough estimates, including overseas operations).Toward the goal of a decarbonized society, the JCLP is promoting cooperation with local governments and overseas institutions, as exemplified by its conclusion of an agreement for comprehensive partnership with Yokohama Municipal Government and its service as a counter for the diffusion of RE100, EV100, and EP100, in its role as a local partner of The Climate Group, an international non-profit organization.
